"City of Light & Wires" compresses the sprawling horizontal landscape of Los Angeles into a single, vertical plane. By stacking the residential density of the Eastside against the steel skyline of Downtown, this digital collage creates a dense stratification of architecture. It visualizes the chaotic, connected pulse of the city—where the organic clutter of the neighborhoods collides with the rigid geometry of the towers.
The Artist
The Artist
Shannon Black (b. Hamilton, New Zealand) is a California-based artist and filmmaker. With over three decades of experience in visual narrative, her work has evolved from capturing the landscape to constructing it. Using a technique of cinematic layering, Shannon assembles light, texture, and digital artifacts to build "The Architecture of Presence" - a study of the American Anthropocene and the quiet spaces between.

The Build
The Build
The Medium: Silver Halide Reconstruction
We utilize a light-sensitive, silver-halide process on Fuji Crystal Archive Professional Paper. Unlike standard digital printing, this method delivers a true continuous tone, creating unparalleled depth and the rich, velvety blacks essential to the "Noir" aesthetic.
The Signature Protocol
To preserve the cinematic composition and visual flow, the work is delivered without a front-facing signature.
Each acquisition is followed by a hand-signed Studio Certificate of Authenticity, dispatched separately. This document acts as the official record of origin, provenance, and archival integrity for your collection.
